Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine Overview (#ad)

- 20-inch elliptical stride length
- Natural elliptical motion
- Affordable
- 22 workout programs
Cons:

The Schwinn 430 Elliptical is the most popular offering from Schwinn, who are one of the great road and exercise bike companies in the world. They have been around for more than a century and have been making elliptical machines since 2014. There are currently 8 offerings in the Schwinn elliptical range.
The 430 sits in the mid-range between the Schwinn ellipticals budget and high-end models. As such, it provides some features that you would not normally see in its price range. These include dual track monitoring, a 20-inch stride and sealed acoustic chamber speakers.
Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine Technical Information
Schwinn 430 elliptical is a solid machine that is capable of supporting a maximum user weight capacity of 300 lbs. The 20-inch precision drive stride allows for the majority of users to get a full, natural stride length. This machine provides you with 22 workout programs, a front flywheel that weighs 13.2 inches and two user profiles.
Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine Features
Programs
The Schwinn 430 Elliptical comes equipped with 22 preset programs built into the monitor. These include a quick start program so you can get straight into the workout. There are also 8 heart rate specific programs, 9 profiles, a couple of fitness tests and two user specific workouts. The heart rate specific training programs are linked to handle bar pulse sensors. These, however, are not overly reliable. There is no provision for more advanced heart rate monitoring, such as a wireless chest strap on this elliptical machine.
For the current price of this elliptical machine, you get an impressive range of workout programs that should more than meet your training requirements.
Resistance Level
The Schwinn 430 elliptical provides you with 20 resistance levels. The eddy current resistance allows for a smooth, natural transition between resistance levels. For an elliptical in this price range, twenty levels of resistance is pretty impressive. Not only will it allow you to progressively increase your training resistance from workout to workout as you get fitter and stronger, it will also make this cardio machine suitable for all members of the family.
Perimeter Weighted Flywheel
The Schwinn 430, is one of the front drive ellipticals class, coming with a front drive, 13.2-pound flywheel. While not overly large, the fact that this flywheel is a high inertia, precision perimeter weight means that you get a very smooth, jerk free elliptical motion.
Pedals
A feature we really like about the Schwinn 430 is that the pedals are positioned a little lower than many competitors suggested by schwinn 430 elliptical review by personal trainers. This makes it easier to mount and dismount the machine, which is great for the elderly and those who have joint problems. The large slip resistant pedals allow for a firm foothold as well as for an adjustment in foot positioning.
Incline
The Schwinn 430 provides you with six levels of incline adjustment. As you would expect with an elliptical within this price range, however, you do not get an auto incline with this machine. That means that you will have to get off the machine in order to make the incline angle adjustment.
Monitor
The monitor on the Schwinn 430 is impressive. You get a large LCD display screen, that displays a number of training diagnostics at the same time. The interface is intuitive and attractive with quick start buttons. However, the Schwinn 430 does not come with backlighting on the screen or Bluetooth connectivity. The monitor displays shows your time, speed, heart rate controls, distance and calorie burned and intensity level
Warranty
The Schwinn 430 elliptical machine provides you with a pretty good warranty. You get 10 years on the frame, 2 years on mechanical parts, with one year on electronics and 90 days on labor. The biggest problem here is the labor warranty – 3 months is way too short!
What We Really Liked
The first thing we really like in the Schwinn 430 Elliptical review is the price point. You get a machine that is packed with features that you don’t normally see at this price range. We are impressed with the smooth elliptical motion of the pedals, along with the 22 workout programs and 20-inch elliptical stride length. The low pedal height is great for ease of getting on and off the machine. The dual user profiles is another big plus on the Schwinn 430. It is easy to assemble, comes with a USB charging port, cooling fan and your expected water bottler holder.
What We Didn’t Like
The biggest hassle we found with the Schwinn 430 was that it does not provide you with an auto incline function. As a result, you have to get off the machine in order to change the angle. That is a hassle if you are doing high intensity interval training which requires you to adjust the level within your workout.
Another negative with this machine is that the pedal rollers are plastic rather than being made of metal. This makes then more liable to breaking. As we’ve noted, there is also no provision for wireless heart rate monitoring on this machine. The handle bar pulse sensors are not very reliable. We are also not impressed with the short labor warranty of 3 months on this elliptical.

Summary
The Schwinn 430 elliptical is a very good buy. For the high-end features that you get, including more than twenty workout programs, twenty resistance levels and a 20-inch stride length, it is pretty hard to beat. We definitely recommend the Schwinn 430 – it’s the real deal!
